Thomas Liu
Loose Leaf Boba
Co-Owner
Thomas Liu is the founder of Loose Leaf Boba Company. He started selling boba in a Swap Meet with his Co-Founder/Wife in 2012 after high school. While attending college full time, in 2014, he opened his first brick-and-mortar boba shop in West Covina, CA called BYOB Boba Company. After he graduated college in 2018, Thomas left BYOB to pursue his “Dream” boba shop. A boba shop aims to empower the very people in the communities it operates in and share culture with its guests. Thomas was inspired back when he would sell Boba out of the Swap Meet and his interactions with people from different cultures & backgrounds. Educating them about what boba is and its cultural significance of it. His goal is to bring people closer and change the world through food and drinks. In the summer of 2018, he opened Loose Leaf Boba Company in Long Beach with his Co-Founder, Jasmine Yip. He is now on track to have 15 stores by the start of 2024. As he is growing his business he would like to build a diverse, inclusive, fair team where each person is paid a fair living wage and given opportunities for each individual to grow in the company. He wants to empower all BIPOC, LBGTQ, and Women to take on leadership roles. Building A Better Boba Company has always been the goal.
